Sensing
a need for an organization of caring women, Jane Cunningham Croly, a professional nineteenth century New York journalist,
established what would become the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, now an international organization. As noted
in the letterhead, Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs has been a proud member of GFWC since 1899.
Members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Texas Federation of
Women’s Clubs, both 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, represent women whose advocacy has resulted in public libraries,
child labor laws, women’s suffrage, pure food and drug statutes, and rights for the disabled.
Today, the signature project in Texas, as well as internationally, is Domestic Violence
Awareness and Prevention with over nineteen thousand dollars of cash and in-kind donations given through Texas Federation
of Women’s Clubs helping Texas shelters serve abused women and children each year. In addition to the clubs’
efforts, the state organization has adopted a state Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Grant to be given during each
two-year administration.
We invite you to partner with GFWC Texas (TFWC) in working
to better the lives of women and children across the state as part of our Texas State Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention
Grant program.
Your tax-deductible donation will help continue the charitable
work of TFWC and enable GFWC Texas (TFWC) in its determined efforts to end the scourge of abuse and seek justice for victims
of sexual, mental, or physical violence.
Thank you in advance for your financial support and your
promotion of a better America.
